s. m, Corrupted from the Persian word Shakaṇjah. A board in which binders press books, a book-binder's press; a vice; stocks (for the legs):—sakaṇjá ḍhillá hoṉá, v. n. To be crest fallen, to be sad; (construed with the Genitive of the person):—sakaṇjá jhaṛáuṉá, v. n. To put in press; to rest the legs by placing something under the knees and then drawing the feet towards the hips:—sakaṇje wichch páuṉá, v. n. To put in stocks or to press.
